Plan B One-Step

Hey, check this out…

Back on 6/12/09 (one of my first posts!), I mentioned in my “When All Else Fails…There’s Plan B!” article that OTC Plan B will soon be available for sale for women 17 years of age and older (right now it’s for ladies 18 and over).

It turns out that not only did the FDA approve the change on the current OTC Plan B, but they also approved a product called Plan B One-Step for women age 17 years and older.

NOTE: Girls younger than 17 years old will have to get a prescription in order to buy Plan B or Plan B One-Step.

The Plan B One-Step pack has only one tablet in it and this tablet contains the hormone called levonorgestrel – the same exact ingredient that is in Plan B.  The one tablet of Plan B One-Step has the same amount of levonorgestrel as the two tablets of Plan B do put together (1 tablet of Plan B One-Step = 2 tablets of Plan B).

The pill in Plan B One-Step should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours of unprotected sex, just like the original Plan B.

Just wanted to throw that out there!  I’ll be sure to give you more information once the new product hits the shelves, unless you have questions about Plan B One-Step already, in which case you can e-mail me at cate@getpharmacyadvice.com.  If you’d rather comment on this post, then please do so!
