Save Money on Viagra!

The little blue pill for erectile dysfunction will now be the little white pill!  That is right, GENERIC Viagra (sildenafil) will soon be available.  You probably won’t see any major change in price until late 2018 but there is about $20 savings per tablet.  Keep reading if you want to pay only $1 for 1 tablet of sildenafil (the generic name for Viagra)

Current approximate costs:

  • GENERIC Viagra = $40/tablet
  • Viagra, Cialis and Levitra = $60/tablet
  •  Staxyn = $30/tablet

If you want to save some money….you want to change to the generic Viagra and are using Cialis 10mg, Levitra 10mg, Staxyn 10mg then switch to generic Viagara 50mg.

If you want to save some serious money …there is an easy and legal way!  Revatio (sildenafil) is the same EXACT medication as Viagra (sildenafil) BUT the brand name Revatio was approved to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lung).  If you ask your prescriber to write a prescription for

“Revatio 20mg tablets –take ___ mg once daily as needed for ED”.  Your prescriber can fill in the amount of the dose you are currently taking then the pharmacist can dispense the brand name Revatio.  It is considered an “off label” use…so your medication information sheet may mention it being used to treat pulmonary hypertension –fyi! and each tablet costs ~$1/tablet.  That is a savings of $59 per tablet!

Other erectile dysfunction medications –Cialis (tadalafil), Levitra (vardenafil) and Staxyn (vardenafil) should be coming out with generics by the end of the year.
