Introduction to Valtrex (valacyclovir) for Cold Sores

Oh wow, it’s a big day! This is the first time in a long time I made a vlog…the newest buzzword for “video blog.” I quite enjoyed it and it was much easier for me to do while on my honeymoon than trying to type up a whole written blog post.

So, out of nowhere I’m going to do a short series on cold sores. I decided to start with Valtrex, or valacyclovir which is the generic version because in my pharmacy experience it is the go-to medication for prescribers when trying to help their patients get rid of cold sores.

Check out my video below to learn more about Valtrex (valacyclovir)!

In my next post I’ll go over some possible drug interactions and side effects of Valtrex, so stay tuned!

And of course, I must leave you with an alternative to taking a prescription medication because it’s the best case scenario for your overall health to avoid them if at all possible. So, instead of waiting until you get a cold sore, let’s try to prevent them.

To do this, make sure you use SPF on your lips when you know you’ll be in the sun for a bit, and that means reapplying throughout your day in the sun accordingly. Yes, prolonged sun exposure can bring on a cold sore!

Try this all natural SPF lip balm  from 100% Pure.

Most importantly though, try to decrease your stress level as much as possible as this seems to be among the biggest culprits to your cold sore debacles. Take a nap if possible when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, meditate, do some yoga, or if you have a stress busting technique that works best for you then amp it up throughout your day.

Ok, that’s the end of this vlog within a blog.

What’s your go-to cold sore remedy?

Cheers!
